چکیده
I wo-dimensional echocardiography has been used extensively to assess aortic arch anatomy in infants and children. Echocardiographic techniques for examination of left and right aortic arch, coarctation and interruption of the aorta, aortic aneurysm and double aortic arch have been well described.lp2 Right aortic arch with retroesophageal segment and left descending aorta, an unusual form of vascular ring, has been described using angiography, barium swallow and computed axial tomography.3-5 In this report, we describe a-dimensional (2-D) echocardiographic findings in an infant with this unusual form of vascular ring.

CORRELATIONS Right Aortic Arch Types and Associated Cardiac Anomalies
An analysis was made of 78 pathologic specimens in which a right aortic arch was present. In four, the right arch was part of a double aortic arch. In 74 cases the right aortic arch was the only arch. The cases of right aortic arch could be subdivided into two groups as follows: (1) that with a retroesophageal aortic segment (three cases) and (2) that without a retroesophageal segment (71 cases...

متن کاملVascular ring due to left aortic arch and right descending aorta.
Two children presented with symptoms suggestive of a vascular ring. Barium esophagrams in each case showed a posterior impression caused by a retroesophageal aortic arch. Angiographic studies defined a rare form of vascular ring resulting from an ascending left-sided aorta, a descending right-sided aorta and a right-sided ligamentum arteriosum. At surgery, the diagnosis was confirmed and the an...
متن کاملTranslocation of the Aortic Arch with Norwood Procedure for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome Variant with Circumflex Retroesophageal Aortic Arch
Retroesophageal aortic arch, in which the aortic arch crosses the midline behind the esophagus to the contralateral side, is a rare form of vascular anomaly. The complete form may cause symptoms by compressing the esophagus or the trachea and need a surgical intervention. We report a rare case of a hypoplastic left heart syndrome variant with the left retroesophageal circumflex aortic arch in w...
متن کاملRight-sided aortic arch with the retroesophageal left subclavian artery as the fourth branch
We present a rare variation of the right-sided aortic arch with the retroesophageal left subclavian artery as the forth branch found in a cadaver of an 89-year-old Korean woman during a routine dissection. In this case, the first branch that arose from the ascending aorta was the left common carotid artery, which crossed ventral to the trachea in a left cephalic direction, followed by the right...
